Rural Abingdon Neighbourhood Action Group
Welcome to the Rural Abingdon NAG website!
When I was first asked to become a founder NAG member like others I was unsure of the benefits we could expect as a community but as the NAG concept has developed I firmly believe the NAG is making a real difference to the safety and well being of our communities.
Fundamental to a successful NAG you require a good balance of representation from the community representing youth, business, and both community and minority groups and I believe our NAG is starting to achieve this balance. The main gain for the community is to identify problems that affect us at a local level and then network alongside the defined agencies to resolve issues that can improve our day to day life.
It is apparent that not all these issues are police related but can be influenced by the involvement of various statuary bodies using their expertise and budgets to overcome community concerns. By developing better community policing and engaging with our communities we can focus on real issues that affect our day to day lives and work to improve our environment and continue to maintain the safe environment in which we are lucky enough to live.
As chairman of the Rural Abingdon NAG I am pleased to be working with a group of dedicated people who work through the normal log jams of bureaucracy and find solutions that make a real difference. If after reading the information on our new website you believe you could contribute to the NAG and would like to help in our work then please do not hesitate to contact me. We are all volunteers and we work using a constitution document to which we all sign up to ensuring best practice and integrity.
We are very fortunate that we live in a very low crime area and by constantly monitoring the concerns of the public and acting on the quickly I believe we will maintain this safe environment well into the future
